Action Alert – May 19, 2011

Those of you who were in Springfield last week for Lutheran Day know there is still much work to be done to make sure lawmakers fully fund vital services before they leave Springfield at the end of May. We all know that unnecessary budget cuts hurt our families and communities, and lawmakers have a choice when they vote on a budget this May.

We are fighting alongside the Responsible Budget Coalition, a coalition of over 200 groups, to make sure lawmakers fund vital services in the budget. One way lawmakers can help generate more revenue and lessen the cuts being proposed is to vote for statutory transfers -- a way to reallocate money in the state budget to reduce the negative impact of cuts on our community.

Lawmakers need to hear from you now. E-mail your lawmaker and tell them to support statutory transfers (click here for more information on statutory transfers and other ways for the state to maximize revenues).
